Plague. Fire. Sex. War. High Drama. Plots. Executions.
The Restoration was one of the most tumultuous and profound eras in English history. From Charles II, the Earl of Rochester and Christopher Wren, to Samuel Pepys, Isaac Newton and Nell Gwynn, some of the greatest minds and most notorious characters of all history lived, breathed and died through it. Arguably, the events that occurred during the latter half of the seventeenth century set England on its course to modernity.
The Restoration London Blog pretty much does exactly as it says on the tin. Designed as a space for research into the Restoration period to be read, shared and discussed. Like the time itself, posts are both lighthearted and serious, perverse and poignant, but never dull.
